Cancellation policies for your listing

The four cancellation options on Pickup, from Flexible (24 hours) to Strict Long term (7 days), what each notice window means and how to set yours.

2 min readUpdated 2 November 2026For operators

Every listing carries a published cancellation option. Guests see it before they pay, so they know exactly where they stand. The option is locked when the guest books.

The policies

You choose one option for trips under 24 hours and one for trips of 24 hours or more. The same four options are open for both:

Option Notice window
Flexible 24 hours
Standard 48 hours
Firm Long term 4 days
Strict Long term 7 days

Each option sets the notice window, and the refund levels are the same for all of them. A guest who cancels before the window gets a full refund. Inside it, before the start, they get half back. After the start, nothing comes back. Pickup keeps the actual card and bank cost the provider charged, shown on the refund, and operators get no share of it. A road levy always comes back if the trip does not happen.

Flexible is the most generous to guests. The longer windows give you more notice of a late cancellation. The full rules are in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Setting your policy

  1. Open Listings and choose the listing.
  2. Tap Cancellation.
  3. Choose your option for shorter trips, then tap Next.
  4. Choose your option for longer trips, then tap Save.

You can change your options at any time. Changes apply to new bookings only.

Choosing well

  • More flexible options can make your listing easier to book.
  • Stricter options suit high demand dates, boats and jets, where a late cancellation is harder to fill.
  • Whatever you choose, apply it consistently. Do not agree side deals outside the app.

Weather and safety

Some cancellations are handled differently, such as a boat trip called off for safety reasons. See Weather and safety cancellations.
