Promotional Credit Terms
How promo codes and wallet credit work on Pickup, what they can be used for, when they expire, and what happens if they are misused.
Updated 2 November 2026 · 7 min read
Version 3.0. Effective 2 November 2026.
In short
- Promo codes and wallet credit are discounts funded by Pickup. They are not money and cannot be bought, cashed out or transferred.
- They reduce the trip price (the Booking Value) only, not the service fee or taxes, and together can cover up to half of any one booking, unless a code's conditions say otherwise.
- Wallet credit expires 12 months after it is added, and unused credit is lost if you delete your account. Each promo code shows its own expiry and conditions before you use it.
- One promo code per booking, unless the code says otherwise.
- Credit never replaces a money refund you are owed.
- Misuse, such as fake accounts or reselling codes, can mean losing credit and your account.
This summary is for convenience only. The numbered clauses below are the binding terms and govern if there is any difference.
1. About these terms
1.1 These Promotional Credit Terms ("Terms") are issued by Pickup Technology Limited, RC 9548096, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, Nigeria, trading as Pickup Charter ("Pickup", "we", "us").
1.2 They form part of the Guest Terms and apply alongside the Referral Terms and the Payments Terms. Our Terms of Use, the umbrella agreement for using Pickup, also apply. Capitalised words have the meaning given in the Guest Terms.
1.3 In these Terms:
(a) a "Promo Code" is a code issued by Pickup that gives a discount on a Booking, under the conditions shown when it is issued and again at checkout ("Code Conditions");
(b) "Wallet Credit" is credit added to your Pickup wallet, including Referral Credit and credit given as a goodwill gesture or promotion; and
(c) "Promotional Credit" means Promo Codes and Wallet Credit together.
1.4 If the Code Conditions of a Promo Code conflict with these Terms, the Code Conditions apply to that code, except that they can never take away a right the law gives you or make the credit redeemable for cash.
1.5 You must be at least 18 and hold an Account to receive or use Promotional Credit.
2. What Promotional Credit is
2.1 Promotional Credit is a discount funded by Pickup. It is not money, e money, a deposit, a stored value product or a payment instrument, and Pickup does not issue it under any financial services licence. It is given free of charge and cannot be bought. It has no cash value, earns no interest, and cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for cash, sold, transferred, gifted or combined across Accounts.
2.2 Promotional Credit does not reduce what the Operator receives for the trip. Pickup pays the difference.
2.3 Promotional Credit is denominated in naira.
3. Using Promotional Credit
3.1 Promotional Credit may be used only on a Booking made on the Platform by you as Booker, and is applied at checkout before you pay. The discount is shown as its own line in the price breakdown (as the Guest Terms and the Payments Terms set out), and the Total Price after the discount is the amount charged.
3.2 It reduces the Booking Value only. It cannot be used for the Service Fee, Taxes, extensions agreed after confirmation, damage or cleaning charges, or any other amount.
3.3 Promotional Credit, used alone or together, may cover up to 50% of the Booking Value of any one Booking, unless the Code Conditions say otherwise.
3.4 Only one Promo Code may be used on a Booking, unless the Code Conditions allow more. Wallet Credit may be used together with a Promo Code only where the Code Conditions allow it.
3.5 Promo Codes may be limited to particular users, services (cars, boats or jets), dates, cities or minimum Booking Values, and to a number of uses. Those limits are shown in the Code Conditions before you use the code.
4. Expiry
4.1 Wallet Credit expires 12 months after it is added to your wallet, unless its Code Conditions state a shorter period when it is given. Your wallet shows each credit's expiry date.
4.2 A Promo Code expires on the date shown in its Code Conditions.
4.3 Expired Promotional Credit is removed and cannot be restored, unless it expired because of our error.
5. Refunds and cancellations
5.1 If a Booking paid partly with Promotional Credit is refunded, the refund is made in the same proportions: money back to your payment method, and credit back to your wallet with its original expiry date. A Promo Code that has been used is not reissued, unless the Code Conditions say so or the refund was caused by the Operator or by Pickup.
5.2 Where you are owed a money refund, we pay it in money. We never replace it with Promotional Credit unless you choose credit yourself in the app.
5.3 A goodwill credit we offer after a problem is in addition to, and never instead of, any refund or other right you have.
6. Closed Accounts
6.1 If your Account is closed or deleted, unused Promotional Credit is cancelled, unless the Account was closed because of our breach of the Guest Terms, in which case we will honour it as credit on a new Account or, where the law requires, by other means.
7. Misuse
7.1 We may refuse, cancel or reverse Promotional Credit, and restrict, suspend or close the Accounts concerned under Account Suspension and Removal, where we reasonably believe that:
(a) Accounts, devices, payment methods or identities have been created, duplicated or shared to obtain credit;
(b) a Promo Code has been sold, published without permission, or used outside its Code Conditions;
(c) a Booking was made, cancelled or refunded to obtain credit, or arranged with a connected Operator; or
(d) credit was obtained by fraud or by exploiting an error.
7.2 We may deduct credit wrongly used from a later refund, with notice showing the amount.
7.3 We tell you what we have done and why, and you may ask for a review under the suspension and review process in the Guest Terms.
8. Changing or ending promotions
8.1 We may change or end a promotion or the issue of Promo Codes at any time. A change never removes Promotional Credit already in your wallet or a valid Promo Code already issued to you before its expiry, unless it is being misused or the law requires it.
8.2 Each promotion is described accurately when it is offered, including its conditions and expiry, as the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 requires.
9. Tax
9.1 Promotional Credit is a discount on the price. Taxes and levies, including the road levy on car trips, are calculated on the price after the discount, as the law requires.
9.2 You are responsible for any tax that applies to you personally on credit you receive.
10. Your data
We use your Account and Booking data to issue, apply and check Promotional Credit, and to prevent misuse, as the Privacy Policy describes.
11. Your rights, law and contact
11.1 Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
11.2 We may update these Terms, with at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email of a material change. A change required by law or for safety takes effect immediately. You accept a new version as the Guest Terms describe, or you may close your Account instead. A change never removes credit already in your wallet (clause 8.1).
11.3 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes are resolved as the Complaints and disputes section of the Guest Terms provides.
11.4 Notices to Pickup are given by email to legal@pickupltd.com and take effect when received. Notices to you are given in the app or to the email address on your Account.
11.5 Contact: in app support, or support@pickupcharter.com.
