Some items and activities are not allowed on any Pickup trip. Operators may add their own rules, shown on the listing. Where the two differ, the stricter rule applies.

Never allowed

  • Illegal drugs or any unlawful activity.
  • Weapons, firearms, ammunition and explosives, except as set out under Security below.
  • Hazardous materials such as flammable liquids, gas canisters or corrosives, unless your operator has approved them in advance under the applicable rules.
  • Carrying goods for commercial delivery. Pickup is for passenger trips.
  • Asking your chauffeur, captain or crew to break the law or bypass safety rules.
  • Arranging or paying for any part of the trip outside the app. See Why you should always pay through Pickup.

Vessels

  • Life jackets are worn at all times on board.
  • Boat trips run in daylight only. Do not ask the crew to depart or stay out after dark.
  • Swimming, jumping or water activities only where the captain allows.

Aircraft

  • Every passenger must carry valid ID.
  • Baggage is subject to the operator's limits and screening.
  • The pilot in command has final authority over who and what is carried.

See Rules for private jet passengers.

Security

No armed escorts can be arranged through Pickup, and Pickup does not offer police escorts. Security add ons, where offered, are provided by NSCDC licensed private guard companies and are unarmed. See Security add ons explained.

You may travel with lawfully assigned, on duty security personnel if the operator consents, so message the operator before the trip. The operator decides whether to carry them, on safety and regulatory grounds; Pickup does not decide this. On duty state security officials who are lawfully authorised to carry are an exception to the Weapons and Prohibited Items Policy. NCAA and aviation security screening stays absolute on every jet segment.

If you told the operator in advance and they decline before the trip starts, you get a full refund. If you didn't tell them and they decline at pickup, it counts as a late cancellation by you.

What happens if rules are broken

Your operator may refuse to start or continue the trip. If you broke the rules, your own cancellation option applies. If it was a prohibited item, only the road levy comes back. Either way a case opens, and the operator's money is held until Pickup checks. See the Cancellation and Refund Policy. Pickup may also suspend your account under the Guest Terms.
