Security add ons explained

Some listings offer a security add on for guests who want an extra professional on their trip. You choose it under Extras at checkout, and its price appears in Price details before you pay.

Who provides it

Security add ons are provided only by private guard companies licensed by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), working through the operator. Pickup checks the licence before the add on can be offered.

What it includes

• A trained, unarmed security professional who travels with you, or an escort car or security boat with an unarmed team, where the listing offers one.
• Awareness and advice at pickup, drop off and stops.
• Coordination with your chauffeur, captain or operator.

What it does not include

• No armed escorts. Security add ons on Pickup are always unarmed. No armed escorts can be arranged through Pickup.
• No police escorts. Pickup does not arrange police escorts, and operators may not offer them.
• No sirens, convoy driving or any action outside the law.

Travelling with your own security detail

You may travel with lawfully assigned, on duty security personnel if the operator consents, for example a government official's police detail. Message the operator before the trip. The operator decides whether to carry them, on safety and regulatory grounds; Pickup does not decide this. If you told the operator in advance and they decline before the trip starts, you get a full refund. If you didn't tell them and they decline at pickup, it counts as a late cancellation by you.

On duty state security officials who are lawfully authorised to carry are an exception to the Weapons and Prohibited Items Policy. NCAA and aviation security screening stays absolute on every jet segment.

Adding security to a booking

1. Open the listing, tap Check availability and add your trip.
2. Tap Reserve or Request to book.
3. At checkout, tap Extras.
4. Select the security add on, if the listing offers it.
5. Check Price details and complete your booking.

To add it after booking, open the trip, tap Change reservation, then Add or remove extras, or message your operator. Availability is not guaranteed.

A guard is there to help, not to replace emergency services. In an emergency, call 112 first, then report the incident in the app.
