What to do in an emergency

Call 112 first. Then get safe, share your trip and tell Pickup through the app. What the safety features do during a trip.

If anyone is in immediate danger, injured or needs the police, fire service or an ambulance, call 112 first.

In-app safety features are secondary information tools and do not constitute an emergency response service. Pickup does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted live monitoring, and automated prompts do not shift emergency response duties away from public authorities. In an emergency, call 112.

What to do

  1. Call 112. It is Nigeria's free emergency number and works from any phone. In Lagos, you can also call 767, the Lagos State emergency line.
  2. Get to safety. Follow instructions from emergency services. On the water, follow the captain and keep your life jacket on. On an aircraft, follow the crew.
  3. Tell someone you trust. Tap Share trip on your trip so they can follow your live location, or alert your emergency contacts.
  4. Tell Pickup. When it is safe, report what happened through the app.

Using the Safety screen

Tap Safety on the live trip. From there you can:

  • Tap Emergency? Call 112 to dial Nigeria's police, fire and ambulance number.
  • Tap Share live trip to send your route and car details to a contact.
  • Tap Alert my emergency contacts. Up to 3 people get your location.
  • Tap Report a safety issue to Pickup.

We also check in on live car and boat trips. If your trip stops for 15 minutes somewhere unplanned, we ask "Are you OK?". Tap I'm OK or Get help. See Emergency contacts and calling 112.

Telling us what happened

Go to Profile > Help and choose your trip under YOUR TRIP, or tap Still need help?, then Pickup safety. Include your booking reference and a short description. Urgent issues on a live trip are put first.

You can also email support@pickupcharter.com. Email is not an emergency line, so always call 112 first.

After the emergency

We will ask for details and any evidence, such as photos or a police report, and review the booking with the operator. Serious incidents can lead to an operator or chauffeur being suspended while we investigate.

Pickup Charter is a booking platform and does not sell insurance. Your trip is provided by an independent licensed operator that holds its own commercial cover. A claim for damage or injury is made against the operator and its insurer. Pickup gives the claimant the operator's insurance certificate details and shares booking records to support it. See Insurance Information.

Need more help?

Open Profile > Help and tap Still need help?, then Chat in the app. An automated AI assistant answers first. Tap Talk to a person to reach our team. Or email support@pickupcharter.com with your booking reference. In an emergency, call 112. All the ways to reach us.
