Your privacy and data on Pickup

What Pickup collects and why, how your selfie and location are used, app permissions, and how to see or delete your data.

This is a short guide. The full detail, and the rules that apply, are in our Privacy Policy.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, date of birth and phone number.
  • Identity check: your ID document details and a selfie, after you pay for your first booking and before the trip.
  • Bookings and payments: where and when you travel, what you booked, and a record of each payment. Card numbers are held by our payment provider, not by Pickup.
  • Messages and reviews: conversations with your operator, chauffeur or crew and with Pickup support, and the reviews you write and receive.
  • Trip location: your trip's progress while it is under way.
  • App information: your device type, app version, crash reports and, with your consent, how the app is used, so we can fix problems.

We never sell your data, show you third party adverts, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Your data is stored outside Nigeria with Supabase and Vercel, and transferred only on a basis the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 allows, such as standard contractual clauses or adequate protection. See Sub-processors.

Your face scan

The selfie you take at verification is used only to confirm that you match your ID and to prevent fraud. The automated check uses Dojah, and face matching is biometric, so we ask for your consent in an unticked box. It is never used for marketing or advertising, never shared with operators or chauffeurs, and never used to train models. If you would rather not use a face scan, send two photos for a manual review, looked at by trained staff with no face matching software or template. See How to verify your identity without a face scan.

To withdraw consent, go to Profile > Security > Identity check, ask in Profile > Help, or email privacy@pickupltd.com.

Face ID is different. If you turn on Enable Face ID in Profile > Security, your phone checks your face. Pickup never receives your Face ID data.

How long we keep it

  • Raw location: 30 days after the trip, unless an open case or legal hold needs it.
  • Selfies and face templates: 30 days after the identity decision, or 7 days after you withdraw consent.
  • ID document records and anti money laundering records: 5 years.
  • Financial records, booking ledgers and tax invoices: 5 years.
  • Jet passport and manifest records: as long as NCAA rules require.

Location

  • We use the pickup point and destination you enter to price and plan your trip.
  • If you allow it, the app uses your phone's location to help set your pickup point and, during a trip, to show where you are. You can say no, or change it any time in your phone's settings. You can still book without it.
  • During a chauffeur driven or boat trip, the chauffeur's or captain's device shares the trip's progress so you, and anyone you share the trip with, can follow it.
  • We do not track you outside a trip.

Who sees what

Your name, photo and contact details are shared with your operator, chauffeur or crew to coordinate your booking, along with your pickup details, number of guests and any accessibility need you record. Phone numbers appear from 1 hour before to 1 hour after the trip. They never see your ID, your face scan or your card details. Operators see that your ID is verified, and they can see the reviews other operators wrote about you. Reviews you publish show your first name and initial.

Your choices

  • Marketing: off unless you opt in. Change it in Profile > Notifications or Profile > Privacy and your data > Tracking. Service messages about your bookings still reach you.
  • Analytics in the app: the app asks for your consent at first launch. Change it in Profile > Privacy and your data > Tracking.
  • The help chat: an automated AI assistant, which asks for your separate consent before your first message. A person joins through Talk to a person.
  • Pickup Tag: off unless you opt in. Turn on Let friends find me by my Pickup Tag in Profile > Privacy and your data.
  • Website cookies: the website sets no analytics or advertising cookies. See the Cookie Policy.
  • See, correct or download your data: go to Profile > Privacy and your data, or email privacy@pickupltd.com. See Data Protection: Your Rights.
  • Delete your account: Profile > Security > Delete my account. See Delete your Pickup Charter account.

Pickup is appointing a UK and EU data protection representative. In the meantime, privacy@pickupltd.com takes requests.

Children

You must be 18 or over to hold a Pickup account. Children can travel only on a booking made by an adult, with a responsible adult on board for the whole trip.
