Your chauffeur, captain or flight crew are responsible for the safe operation of every trip. Pickup gives you and your guests tools that support that.
Built in safety tools
- Assigned, verified staff. For cars, guests see the name, photo and plate of the assigned chauffeur the day before. For boats and jets, guests see the crew by role (your captain, your flight crew), never by name.
- A match check at pickup. Guests check that the chauffeur, car and plate, or the vessel and crew, match the booking before boarding. If they don't, the guest can refuse the trip and is refunded in full, and a case opens.
- Live location. Live location is shared with the guest from 1 hour before the trip starts, never earlier, until 1 hour after it ends. Guests can share the trip with people they trust.
- Phone numbers. A chauffeur's number and the guest's are shared from 1 hour before the trip starts until 1 hour after it ends. Outside that window, use in app messages. Boat and jet crew numbers are not shared with guests.
- Emergency contact alerts and check-ins. Emergency contacts can be alerted, and the app sends an "Are you OK?" check-in after a stop of 15 minutes. Set these under Menu, then Safety.
- Emergency? Call 112. The live trip and Safety screens show one line that dials 112, Nigeria's police, fire and ambulance number.
- In app messaging. Keep trip communication in the app so there is a record.
In-app safety features are secondary information tools and do not constitute an emergency response service. Pickup does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted live monitoring, and automated prompts do not shift emergency response duties away from public authorities. In an emergency, call 112.
In an emergency
- Call 112.
- Make everyone safe. Stop the car, return to the jetty or follow your aviation emergency procedures.
- When it is safe, report it from the booking's help icon, or under Menu, then Safety, then Report a safety issue.
Vertical rules that protect everyone
- Boats: boat trips run in daylight only, operators cannot switch this off, and life jackets are worn at all times.
- Aircraft: every flight operates under your NCAA Air Operator's Certificate and the pilot in command's authority.
- Security add ons: unarmed only, provided by NSCDC licensed companies. No armed escorts are arranged through Pickup.
After the trip
Record what happened while it is fresh: times, locations, photos and witness names. Share it through the booking's help icon. See How disputes are resolved.
